If you searched “Multi Mod Manager,” you may want one of two things: the old Wii homebrew app of that name, or a single PC tool that manages mods across many games. For PC, the best multi-game mod manager is Vortex, with Mod Organizer 2 as the stronger choice for heavy Bethesda load orders. Below you’ll find which manager fits which game, what each one requires, and where the Wii app fits in.
First, the Wii app called Multi-Mod Manager
Multi-Mod Manager (MMM) is a Wii homebrew utility. Homebrew sites such as GBATemp credit it to Wiiwu (also listed as Wiiwu2), and version 13.4 is the release most homebrew sites carry. It runs from the Homebrew Channel and handles system-level jobs such as WAD and IOS management and NAND backups. It does nothing for PC games.
Before you install
MMM changes the Wii’s system files. A wrong IOS install can brick the console, so back up your NAND first and follow your homebrew community’s current guides.
We don’t cover where to download it. The rest of this list covers PC mod managers.
PC mod managers at a glance
| Manager | What it does | Requires | Author |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vortex | Multi-game manager tied to Nexus Mods | Windows, free Nexus account | Nexus Mods |
| Mod Organizer 2 | Virtual file system, per-profile load orders | Windows | MO2 team (originally Tannin) |
| r2modman | Thunderstore mods for Unity games | Windows or Linux | ebkr |
| CurseForge app | Minecraft, WoW, The Sims 4 and more | Windows or macOS | Overwolf |
| Modrinth App | Minecraft instances and modpacks | Windows, macOS, Linux | Modrinth |
| Fluffy Mod Manager | Capcom game mods | Windows | FluffyQuack |
| Reloaded-II | Universal mod loader and manager | Windows | Sewer56 |
All seven are free to use. CurseForge’s Overwolf build is ad-supported, and Vortex’s one-click collection installs need Nexus Premium.
Vortex

Vortex is the closest thing to a true multi mod manager. Nexus Mods supports a long list of games through extensions, and you can enable new ones from inside the app. It deploys mods to the game folder with hardlinks, so you can remove them cleanly later.
Collections are its standout feature. You follow a curated mod list, and Vortex downloads and orders everything in a batch.
Modder's note
Click “Deploy” after every install or settings change. A lot of “mod not working” posts on the forums come from mods that are installed but never deployed.
Mod Organizer 2
MO2 never touches your game folder. Its virtual file system shows the game a merged view at launch, so your base install stays clean. Separate profiles let you keep a stable playthrough and a testing setup side by side.
The left pane shows which files win conflicts. For 300-plus mod Skyrim SE or Fallout 4 setups, that visibility beats Vortex.
r2modman
r2modman pulls from Thunderstore, which hosts mods for games such as Lethal Company, Valheim and Risk of Rain 2. It handles BepInEx automatically and lets you share profiles with friends through a code. That is handy when your whole co-op group needs matching mods.
CurseForge app
CurseForge covers Minecraft (Forge, Fabric, NeoForge), World of Warcraft addons and The Sims 4 custom content. Updates run with one click, but it only supports games CurseForge itself hosts.
Modrinth App
The Modrinth App is open source and focused only on Minecraft. Every modpack gets its own instance with its own version and loader, so a Fabric pack and a NeoForge pack never collide.
Fluffy Mod Manager
FluffyQuack’s tool is the standard for Capcom titles on the RE Engine and for Monster Hunter. Most Capcom mods on Nexus list it as a requirement, and it can reload mods without manual file copying.
Reloaded-II
Sewer56’s Reloaded-II is a code-injection loader with a manager on top. It supports a range of games through community game support, especially Sonic and Persona titles.

FAQ
Is Multi-Mod Manager a PC program?
No. Multi-Mod Manager is Wii homebrew. On PC, Vortex is the nearest equivalent: one app for many games.
Can I use Vortex and Mod Organizer 2 together?
Not on the same game. Pick one per game, or you’ll end up with duplicate files and conflicts that are hard to track.
Do I need a mod manager for Elden Ring?
Most Elden Ring mods load through ModEngine 2 rather than a general manager. Our “elden ring mods” guide covers which picks need it.
Are mod managers safe?
